Profiles of CSOFT Linguists, Part 3 (Isabelle Verpeaux, Emma Kuo and Taeko Fujiwara)

CSOFT would not be a leading language service provider if it wasn’t for its strong network of more than 10,000 linguists worldwide. That’s why we are excited to reunite with some of our talented translators at the CSOFT Annual Summit next month.  Three more CSOFT linguists have confirmed their attendance—Isabelle Verpeaux, Emma Kuo and Taeko Fujiwara. As you read their career journey below, we hope you’ll come to appreciate the art of translation even more; who knows you may even be inspired to join their ranks.

Isabelle Verpeaux

Isabelle is a French native raised in Paris.  In order to complete her education in English, she spent 6 years in London, where she obtained a Diploma of English as a foreign language from the Institute of Linguist. Isabelle has been an English-to-French translator for over 23 years, specializing in technical, medical, technology and tourism fields. She works exclusively with a limited circle of leading translation agencies with whom she has built a strong and trustful relationship.

As Isabelle says, the advent of Internet enables her to work from various places around the world. Currently, she spends a few months of each year in different countries, dividing her time between living in the West South of France, the South of Morocco and London. Her professional occupation offers her the opportunity to satisfy her passion for travels whilst earning a living. Isabelle’s other interests include animals, sailing and motorcycling around Europe. She is married to a professional photographer, with whom she has two daughters.

Hsiu Fen (Emma Kuo)

After receiving her MA degree from Macquarie University in 2001, Emma returned to Taipei and started her career as a freelance linguist. Emma works as a team with 3 other freelancers on a regular basis. Their specialty fields are IT, hardware, software, automobile, communications, machinery, HR, Insurance, business/marketing and legal documents. To Emma, being able to work almost everywhere – as long as there is internet- is one of the larger benefits of being a freelancer, as it allows her to continue working, even when she is on a long holiday. In her free time, Emma enjoys traveling, reading, exercising and watching performance art. Emma has been working with CSOFT for over a decade, and this is her 4th time attending the summit. In Emma’s own words, “It’s great to be back at the summit and meet old and new friends at CSOFT!”

Taeko Fujiwara

Taeko Fujiwara is a Japanese translator based in Latin America. After spending about 10 years in the UK, she and her husband relocated to Ecuador 3 years ago. She currently subsides in Quito, which is the capital of Ecuador and is in the middle of the Andes. The different cultures and beautiful nature there makes her adamant in recommending everyone to visit, at least once.

Taeko has been in the localization industry for about 15 years, functioning in various roles, such as assistant project manager, QA tester/engineer and translator. Her field is mainly IT and telecommunication. She holds an MSc in Nationalism and Ethnicity from the London School of Economics and Political Science. All the above experiences continuously help her with current translation work. Taeko has been a freelancer for 3 years and kindly says that she is enjoying every bit of it thanks to her partnership with CSOFT.
