Nicknamed the “corporate goddesses,” the 12-foot-tall statues have loomed over San Francisco’s Financial District for decades inspiring wonder, admiration and, yes, even a little fear. The "Corporate Goddesses": CSOFT San Francisco

Perched 23 stories above California Street, the faceless, hollow forms have been speculated to be anything from icons of grace to grim reapers, angels, or symbols representing the ghostly nature of finance. Some think they may be artistic representations of female CEOs (hence the designation corporate goddesses) who – though still a rarity – are becoming increasingly frequent in today’s rapidly evolving business world.

Those who believe the latter explanation should really appreciate the newest tenant in the building crowned by the dozen corporate goddess statues – CSOFT International, home to Simply CSOFT and led by President and CEO Ms. Shunee Yee.

Crowned in 2012 as one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs, Yee sits at the helm of a rapidly growing localization services provider (LSP) with offices worldwide. Although the statues perched atop the building weren’t considered in the location’s choice, their significance hasn’t been lost on CSOFT’s employees who have seen Yee’s goddess-like energy, drive and ability to answer prayers for efficient, cost effective localization solutions.
But the question remains; did sculptor Muriel Castanis, who died in 2006, have future female CEOs like Yee in mind when she crafted her intriguing works of art? No one can say for sure. Even her husband, George Castanis, said in a 2007 Los Angeles Times article that he was at a loss to explain the meaning behind the statues. Some have guessed that they are a warning to those who toil in the corporate world: don’t lose yourself. Others jokingly call them “the Supremes.”

One thing you can say for sure, though, is that Yee and CSOFT have found their ideal home in San Francisco.

“The Bay Area is home to some of the world’s most innovative technology companies,” Yee said. “With our new location, we hope to help these tech pioneers take their products and service offerings around the world while fully supporting our existing clients in the Bay Area and throughout the U.S.”

CSOFT San Francisco will house a multinational team of customer service, public relations, sales and marketing, engineering and project management experts and we at Simply CSOFT know our own “corporate goddess” will inspire them to reach divine heights.
