The future can be a scary venture into the unknown. No one knows what is going to happen, or even when it is going to happen. We don’t have to look far for an example, with doom-mongers last month claiming that an asteroid will collide with Earth in September and wipe out our existence. Of course, this is a highly unlikely outcome, but one potential worry is the vast rate at which the population is growing and physical living space on the Earth is shrinking towards an inevitable demise. These fears have led to a very real and flourishing new industry of space technology
It was Malcolm X who once said, “The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.” One company that is truly preparing for the future today is Kuang-Chi Ltd, based in Shenzhen, China. Kuang-Chi focuses on novel near-space technology, research and development of space materials, and has been noted by Chinese President Xi Jinping. They have gained a significant amount of attention through their exciting promises of bringing a hot air balloon to the edge of space as well as recently purchasing Martin Aircraft Jetpacks with the aim of releasing them for sale in 2016.
Here at CSOFT, we consider ourselves extremely lucky to be able to welcome the Chairman of Kuang-Chi Technology Ltd., Dr. Ruopeng Liu to our annual CSOFT Summit next month. He will be conducting a one-on-one interview entitled “The Future Is Now” as well as joining a discussion panel regarding innovation in China. A lot of Dr. Liu’s work has revolved around space technology with him stating that, due to the ever increasing population on Earth, space travel and space technology will eventually become an important part of our future.
It may be difficult to get your head around the idea of future generations travelling around space freely, but it’s something many believe to be a matter of time. We will leave you with the worlds of the young American poet Mattie Stepanek: “even though the future seems far away, it is actually beginning right now.”
