This year’s Easter festivities are nothing like previous celebrations for our President & CEO Shunee Yee. She was one of 35 thousand guests who attended the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, a tradition in its 138th year, and the largest annual public event at the White House.
[dropcap type=”square or circle”] S [/dropcap]hunee’s last visit to Washington D.C. was in October 2015 when she attended First Lady Michelle Obama’s dinner event at the Smithsonian Museum organized by Fortune. It was there that she first learned about Let Girls Learn, an initiative aimed at addressing the challenges that prevent adolescent girls from attending and completing school. She then led her company, CSOFT Intl., into collaboration with the campaign with the purpose of empowering women worldwide.
Shunee is no stranger to promoting female leadership. In October 2014, Shunee along with other female CEOs from San Francisco and policy makers from the Obama administration attended a Top Women in Business briefing at the White House. The meeting sought to address the challenges women face when raising capital, entering new markets, and growing their businesses.
Easter Fun
In honor of the final Easter Egg Roll of the Obama administration, this year’s theme, “Let’s Celebrate,” looks back to commemorate the past years. Shunee and her family took part in this “egg-citing” event, playing sports with professional athletes, enjoying live music, and egg decorating and hunting. Other activities at the event included storytelling by celebrities, an instructional dance party on the South Lawn, and a yoga session. In support of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative, this year also included the first-ever White House Fun Run, where Michelle Obama and hundreds of children did a short run to promote active and healthy lifestyles for kids.
This year’s special guest was Tony Award Winning, Multi-Platinum Recording Artist, Idina Menzel. Other renowned guests who attended the event include rapper Silentó, NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal, British television presenter Bear Grylls, and Chef Kwame Onwuachi.
White House Easter Eggs
To remember the special Easter celebration at the White House, Shunee brought back several sets of commemorative 2016 White House Easter Eggs. These eggs feature the stamped signatures of the President and First Lady on the back. We want to celebrate with you by giving out these sets to 10 randomly selected requestors of projects that kick off between March 28th and April 1st.
